Southport District Scouts

Congratulations to the 62nd A team who won this years District Dragonboat Racing Competition which took place yesterday evening, 18th May, at Waterside Lodge.

Southport Explorer / Network Scouts, who were recently awarded their Queen's Scout Award, have just been to London to march at the Annual Queens Scout Parade in Windsor Castle's Quadrangle. Part of the parade included marching a few feet in front of the Queen and afterwards they went on to meet the Chief Scout, Bear Grylls.

Congratulations to the 19th Southport Cub Pack who were announced as Pack of the Year at our St.George's Day service last Sunday.
They will now have the honour of leading next year's parade carrying the Union and St.George's Flags.
Pack of the Year is decided by the results of various District Competitions, Nights Camping away and Chief Scout Silver Awards.
The 19th gained 655 points, in second place were the 62nd Cub Pack with 647 points and third were the 48th Cub Pack with 624 points.

Southport District Scouts enjoyed another Sunny afternoon for their Annual St.George's Day Parade through Southport yesterday.
The parade set off from waterside Lodge (District HQ) crossed Lord Street at the monument and finished at Holy Trinity Church for a Service and the Presentations of Awards.

1st Place - 48th Scout Troop
2nd Place - 1st Southport Lockhart Troop
3rd Place - 55th Southport Scout Troop

Pack of the Year :-

Various Southport Scout Troops have just returned from a fun and challenging weekend at The County 'Great Escape' Competition at Tawd Vale.
Teams of 6 had to find their way round the site and compete in various physical and mental challenge bases set up for them. They were awarded points for teamwork and the speed at which they completed each challenge.....a few got wet.....For photos and results please go to Merseyside County's Website.

Huge Congratulations to the 1st Southport Lockhart 'A' Team who beat off the competition to Win the County Lord Derby Competition this weekend, closely followed by the 48th Scout Troop who came Second. Both teams had earned their place to compete in the County Competition after taking part in our District version a few weeks ago. They competed against 18 other Teams from Merseyside County in a series of Scouting skill challenges at Tawd Vale Campsite. For photos head over to the Photo Gallery on Merseyside County Website.

Congratulations to the 19th Cub Scout Pack who won the District 'Outdoor' Competition this weekend. The teams of 6 had to build and light their own fires, prepare their own Mince Stew Main Course and Baked Apple pudding and cook these in foil directly on the fires.
The day was very enjoyable (and Sunny) and most of the Cubs ate their meals for lunch. Well done to the 62nd and 48th Cubs Packs who came joint second.

91 Beavers, from Southport District, recently enjoyed a day at Tawd Vale completing their Hikes Away Badge, completing challenges, meeting Norman Knights and making their own shields etc.

They were given the opportunity to walk around Tawd and challenged to look for trees that were chopped down, smooth, rough, mossy and so wide that they couldn’t put their arms around. They also completed a treasure hunt looking for things such as a feather, something that smelt nice and something man made. These are just a sample of some of the challenges given to the beavers.

Southport District Scout Troops took part in the Annual Lord Derby Competition today at the Marine Lake. The teams of 6 had to complete various skill / fun based challenges which included Map reading, Word Search Orienteering, a Scout quiz version of 'The Million Pound Drop', amongst others. Congratulations go to the 1st Southport Lockhart 'A' team which won overall, 2nd place went to the 48th Scout Troop and 3rd Place to 1st Southport Lockhart 'B' team.
